This impressive restaurant has a unique backstory. Between the 1920s and 40s the space that now is occupied by Benchmark was used as an ice-house and weigh station for goods that arrived on the banks of the Gowanus canal. These items were transported from the canal through tunnels located directly underneath the current building. Today, Benchmark is noted for its featured selection of steaks and chops including its 24 oz. ribeye.
