Borough-Wide: 7 Best Bars to Watch the Rangers in the Stanley Cup Finals

By Robert Abruzzese

Brooklyn might be getting a hockey team soon, but for now this is still part of Rangerstown and many are excited for the New York Rangers’ first trip to the Stanley Cup since they won it in 1994. It cost at least $1,000 to get in the door at Madison Square Garden, but there are plenty of places to watch the game without even leaving the borough. Here is a handy list of a few of the best.

200 Fifth, 200 5th Ave, (718) 638-2925

Anyone that has been here knows that this is the best sports bar in Brooklyn as it’s a giant space with over 100 televisions that are always tuned to sports. While the Rangers are in the Cup, they are running beer and food specials including a Rangers Burger, $25 towers of coors light and a special 80-ounce trophy pitcher of Heineken.

Windy City Ale House, 7915 3rd Ave, (718) 630-5700

This is actually a Chicago Blackhawks bar located in Bay Ridge, but since the Los Angeles Kings beat them to get to the final there will be plenty of fans rooting for the Rangers during the Cup. This place is completely packed during hockey games and it might make you more comfortable to wear a hockey jersey, even a Rangers’ jersey, to fit in, but the $10 pitchers of beer make it worth it.

Red Star, 37 Greenpoint Ave, (718) 349-0149

This Greenpoint bar won’t be running any specials for the Stanley Cup, but it’s the best sports bar in the area, they will be playing the audio from the game throughout the bar and they will be running their typical 50-cent wings special on Wednesday nights so you’ll be covered for Game 1. Double pitchers of budweiser go for a reasonable $24 here.

Mullanes Bar & Grill, 71 Lafayette Ave, (718) 797-7606

This bar features eight large TVs and a projector and is a short walk from the Atlantic Avenue subway stop and just steps from the G, or C trains too which makes it one of the easiest locations to get to no matter where you live in Brooklyn. It’s not running any Stanley Cup specials, but the audio from the game will be on and the food is good. Get there before 7:00 p.m. for happy hour.

O’Keefe’s Bar & Grill, 64 Court St, (718) 855-8751

If you are working late in the Downtown Brooklyn area this is your best option to watch the game. This bar has amazing wings and daily drink specials. For Game 1, it will feature Bud and Coors Light for just $3.50.

Kettle Black Bar & Restaurant, 8622 3rd Ave, (718) 680-7862

Speaking of chicken wings, The Kettle Black claims to have the best wings in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, they are not running their 60-cent wings special during the Stanley Cup, it’s normal Wednesday night special has been pushed back to Thursday, but they are still worth it and this place will be packed with Rangers fans during the game.

Bean Post Pub, 7525 5th Ave, Phone number (718) 745-9413

If you can’t tell by this list, Bay Ridge loves the Rangers and this place is the pinnacle. It has literally been waiting 20 years for this which is obvious since the bar has photos plastered all over from the last time the Rangers were in the Cup. It has 17 TVs and over 70 different varieties of beer available.

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup is Wednesday night starting at 8:00 p.m. Let’s go Rangers!
