Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and money for the ALS Association Greater New York Chapter.

He was nominated by former New York City Council Member Domenic M. Recchia, Jr. who filmed his video the day before. Adams proceeded to nominate Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch, Sergeants Benevolent Association President Edward D. Mullins and the Reverend Al Sharpton.

“By taking a part in this challenge, we can all raise awareness of the existence of this illness and raise money for ALS research,” said Borough President Adams in his viral video. “Every 90 minutes, someone dies from ALS. There are 5,600 cases diagnosed per year, or 15 people per day. I am also committing a $100 donation today to this important cause.”
