DSC_0005Nanatori has been a staple on Montague Street for more than twenty years. Just a short walk from the courthouse, this traditional Japanese restaurant is seemingly untouched by the hustle and bustle of change that has come to Brooklyn Heights.

The wood covered interior is filled with small coves where diners can enjoy their meals and discuss their days. Just walking in during the lunch hour rush it is easy to see how popular Nanatori is with Brooklyn Heights’ professionals.

There’s a sense of family at Nanatori. With so many locals coming in often, Jimmy, who has worked at Nanatori for over five years, seems to always be fluttering from table to table, chatting with someone.

A hard to miss feature in the entranceway is Nanatori’s birthday wall. Pictures of birthdays, celebrations and smiles line the walls and welcome you as you walk in. It’s hard to get mochi ice cream off your mind after walking past.

Three sushi chefs with decades of experience create a huge list of specialty rolls that are unique and delicious. Lunch specials, bento boxes and a wide variety of fish entrees, curry dishes and donburi (Japanese rice bowls) are what keep customers coming back for more.

The “Montague Roll” – salmon and avocado topped with lobster salad, mango and spicy mayo blew us away. Sweet, savory, creamy and delicious!

Of course, we couldn’t pass up a chance to try some of their cold sake. Whether you like dry, sparkling or fruity, Nanatori has a selection of sake for any taste.

Come to Nanatori Japanese Restaurant for their traditional atmosphere, friendly service and delicious menu. But, don’t just take our word for it – stop in during lunch hour and see what keeps bringing Brooklynites through Nanatori’s doors.
