Downtown Brooklyn: “Stories and Stilts” Family Fun at BRIC

BRIC Arts Media is hosting a family-friendly event that includes art, performance, live music and stilt dancing!

The program will expand upon themes expressed in Laura Anderson Barbata’s Transcommunality exhibition, which highlights the vitality of the moko jumble stilt walking tradition in various parts of the world. She also takes a look at how this particular form of artistry can be use as a platform for social contemporary performance.

Stories and Stilts includes a performance by Amphibian Stage Productions that will involve costumes, live music and of course, stilt dancing. A stilt walking workshop will follow led by the Brooklyn Jumbles, allowing children and adults alike to learn how to walk on stilts.

The event is free and open to the public on August 23rd at 11am.
