Williamsburg: Alive With Art Honors José Parlá
Brooklyn Arts Council is celebrating a Brooklyn-based artist in their Alive With Art benefit next Tuesday,…
As reported by The Brooklyn Eagle, Brooklyn Heights’ neighborhood cinema is moving to a new location in DUMBO, which formerly housed shamed bar & wedding venue reBar.
The reBar space at 147 Front Street has been vacant since closing and leaving brides emotionally jilted and financially depleted last May.
Although Brooklyn Heights Cinema took to social media to try to raise funds to help keep it in its original 70 Henry Street location, owner Kenn Lowy has been feeling the financial strain. He is still in talks with landlords in DUMBO to negotiate rent and the amount of space he will get. reBar already has one theatre but Lowy plans on putting in his own projector, sound system and new seats.
No word yet if the cinema will keep its original name but it will keep showing the same king of movies that made it famous.
The location will close at the end of August. No word yet as to what the big going away party will entail.
