Coney Island’s 4th annual History Day will be held this weekend at Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park, home of the landmark 1920 Wonder Wheel. This year’s theme will be the return of the Astroland Rocket, one of the first “imaginary” space voyage simulators constructed during the Space Race.
The event will premiere screenings of Charles Denson’s new film, “The Rocket Has Landed”, which tells the story of the Astroland Rocket and it’s journey of returning to Coney Island after Hurricane Sandy.
There will be musical performances from hand-crank antique and hand-built musical organs from around the world. Don’t forget about the magic show!
The event will be held Saturday, August 9th.
