We understand there is something romantic about the notion of leaving a personal memento on one of New York City’s most famous landmarks. But there is a very big difference between covering our famed Brooklyn Bridge with “locks of love” and tying an old scrunchie to the rails.
We hate to break it to you, but the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) periodically removes thousands of padlocks inscribed with heartfelt declarations from the Brooklyn Bridge walkway.
We personally don’t think the best way to leave your mark on NYC is by putting your name and the date on a leftover paper bag from your lunch, but hey.
