Make A Frame
180 Atlantic Ave
Make A Frame has been designing and building custom made frames for over 40 years in the same land-marked Cobble Hill location on Atlantic Avenue.
Thoren Vadala, the current proprietor has been running the store since 2004 and has framed his fair share of eccentricities.
“We have framed many original works of art by famous artists but for me I love designing shadow boxes,” says Vadala. “We have framed a piece of the Hindenburg, cobra and gator skins, a Rolls Royce grille, horseshoe crabs and other various curiosities.
“Secondly I love theming frames to movie posters, such as the “To Kill A Mockingbird” original that’s in my window now.”
The store has on stock a rare collection of framed and unframed vintage Harper’s pages, maps and hand silkscreened prints.
The store has been featured on both “Elementary” and “Lucy Lou.”
Their Atlantic Avenue shop has been so successful that a second location is opening up in Bed-Stuy.
