Save the date: ebrooklynmedia, the Brooklyn Eagle and Wellcare present the 2019 Black History Month Champions Awards Reception and Networking on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 at Dyker Beach Golf Course!

This is a must-attend event for all the right reasons, recognizing African-Americans who have made extraordinary contributions in public service, medicine, education, economic development, labor and volunteerism/activism. These individuals work tirelessly daily to shape and advance the future of our community and country. To them we are forever grateful.

The theme of the evening is “Remembering the past, celebrating the present, embracing the future.” Keynote speaker is New York City Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives Hon. J. Phillip Thompson. This year’s honorees include Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams; NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Benjamin B. Tucker; NY Smoke-Free Executive Director Deidre Sully, MPH; Bank of America Senior Vice President/New York Market Manager Maurice Coleman; BNYDC Chief Administrative Officer Jocelynne Rainey; former New York City Comptroller and current CUNY Chairman WIlliam Thompson; NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull Chief Executive Officer Gregory Calliste; and NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island Director of Medical Nursing Arlene Cynthia Meyers, RN, MSHA.
